Former President Donald Trump made every effort to end America’s participation in a decades-long war, which based on middle-east history, will never stop whether our troops are there or not. He ordered the complete withdrawal of America’s fighting forces from Afghanistan to be completed by May 1, but this is not going to happen.
Complete troop withdrawals are not completed overnight. In addition to moving the soldiers out, there is heavy equipment, artillery, supplies, trucks, humvees, and all manner of paraphernalia required for their mission. It’s a huge task that Joe Biden hasn’t even begun to show an interest in completing. In fact, he thinks Trump might have jumped the gun.

Joe Biden is fearful of a Taliban backlash against the Afghan military if our remaining 2,500 troops were to pack up and leave. Instead, he’d rather let the insurgents continue attacking American troops, as they continually do. Just last month the Taliban twice attacked one of the most heavily fortified bases in the country.
Forward Operating Base Chapman was showered with rocket fire killing at least seven civilians outside of the base’s perimeters. Another attack took place in Kandahar where the Taliban once again launched rockets at a NATO base being used by both U.S. and coalition troops.
According to Biden, “It’s going to be hard to meet the May 1 deadline. Just in terms of tactical reasons, it’s hard to get those troops out.” He added, “And if we leave, we’re going to do so in a safe and orderly way.” Notice the phrase “if we leave.”
Retired Navy admiral James Stavidis, a former NATO commander who has no real say in the matter, said it would be unwise to withdraw too quickly and that he agrees with Biden’s delay.
“Sometimes not making a decision becomes a decision, which seems the case with the May 1 deadline,” Stavidis said. “The most prudent course of action feels like a six-month extension and an attempt to get the Taliban truly meeting their promises — essentially permitting a legitimate ‘conditions based’ withdrawal in the fall.”
Another retiree, Gen. Joseph Dunford, former commander of U.S. forces in Afghanistan and former chairman of the Joint Chiefs felt the need to sound off as well. “A withdrawal would not only leave America more vulnerable to terrorist threats; it would also have catastrophic effects in Afghanistan and the region that would not be in the interest of any of the key actors, including the Taliban,” he said. Dunford suggested that Biden put the withdrawal on hold until at least May.
In all fairness, the U.S. has spent two decades and sacrificed thousands of lives in a chaotic war that thus far, has achieved very little. Even if the Taliban were to be completely obliterated, which they won’t be, new factions would pop up and the same scenario would be reincarnated. The entire mid-east region has been in conflict longer than the U.S. has been a nation and no amount of foreign military presence is going to stop it.
Donald Trump was absolutely correct by ordering the immediate troop withdrawal, but the liberal hawkish Democrats enjoy placing our young troops in harm’s way so they’ll just keep delaying the order. It’s a game, except instead of being played on a board, they prefer using real live bodies as pawns.
The Democrats also feel that no troops should withdraw until the Taliban agrees in writing to knock it off. Of course, even if they were to sign such an agreement, the moment our forces are out of their way they’ll start right back up again.
An agreement made with Non-Muslims would nothing to them. It would be a mere ploy. Allah has their back. The best thing would be to get our troops out of the region so the good residents can continue killing one another for the next few centuries, and as they have proven time and again, they don’t need our help to do that. Bring ’em home…
