Things just keep getting worse for disgraced former NY governor Andrew Cuomo. As if the numerous sexual allegations lodged against him, and his bumbling of the pandemic, weren’t enough to crucify the man, his consistent lying just drove the final nails through his hands. While reporting the number of COVID-19 deaths in the state that was, at the time, under his command, he kinda forgot to report an additional 12,000 people who perished under his watch.
Cuomo’s replacement, Gov. Kathy Hochul, who discovered the coverup on her first day in office, said, “The public deserves a clear, honest picture of what’s happening. And that’s whether it’s good or bad, they need to know the truth. And that’s how we restore confidence.”
Hochul’s office gave the official death count of 55,400 as opposed to the figure of 43,400 that Cuomo gave on his final day in office. Considering how the once-respected man about town denied the sexual harassment allegations of 11 separate women he has little recourse but to admit he’s a liar who willfully skewed the count to reflect better in his favor. Cuomo has no perception of the truth.
Federal health officials along with other health organizations that have been carefully mapping out where COVID-19 still is or has done the most damage, said they were relatively certain the numbers were being fudged but they could only go by what they were being told. The additional deaths have been verified via death certificates citing coronavirus as the cause.

Hochul served as New York’s lieutenant governor prior to Cuomo’s fall from grace and there appears to be no love lost between her and her former boss. She said that transparency is imperative. “There’s a lot of things that weren’t happening, and I’m going to make them happen. Transparency will be the hallmark of my administration.” No more whispering behind closed doors.
Cuomo’s count never did quite jive with what the CDC was saying, but at the time, his word was the final gospel on all matters. The problem was in Cuomo collecting only partial data. His only source was through a state system that’s limited to only data reported from hospitals, full-time care facilities, and the one that landed him in boiling water, nursing homes. If you recall, it didn’t work out so well when Cuomo sent people with active cases to nursing homes to quarantine. Duh…
The former governor conveniently omitted the additional 12,000 home deaths, those who died while under Hospice care, in prisons, and in state-run homes for the severely disabled. The omissions also include people who died prior to being tested for COVID-19, but it was for apparent reasons listed as the cause.
Many of these deaths occurred in the early stages when tests were not readily available. Hundreds of the state’s populace, mainly in NYC, were dropping like flies day in and day out as Cuomo bragged about how well he was handling the crisis. Hochul summed up the error of Cuomo’s ways by saying, “There are presumed and confirmed deaths. People should know both.”
Cuomo’s spokesperson, Rich Azzopardi, who for some odd reason is still a fan, made light of the 12,000 deaths and their grieving families. He said they had been reporting the presumed COVID deaths to the CDC like were supposed to, but they didn’t want to further panic the good citizens of NY by including that number in what they publicized daily. They knew, they just figured it would be for the best if no one else did.
With Cuomo already being run out of the state on a rail, it’s too late to correct what can only be attributed to a self-centered willful error in judgment. Cuomo served 10 years in his former position and look what Hochul unburied in one day. It’ll take some time to sift through the mess she inherited but you can bet the process has already begun.
