It did not take long for the State of California to double down following the failed attempt to recall the Democratic governor. Los Angeles County is already putting forward a new health order this week that will mandate proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test for several situations and events.
Fox 11 Los Angeles is reporting that LA County is planning on issuing a new health officer order this week which will require proof of vaccination for the following: Indoor bars, wineries, breweries, nightclubs, and lounges. This order will also require proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test for outdoor events including Dodgers, Rams, and Chargers games. This information came on Wednesday from County Public Health Director Dr. Barbara Ferrer in her report to the Board of Supervisors.
This new order will also mandate that both customers and workers at the indoor nightlife businesses have received at least one dose of the vaccine by October 7th and their second dose by November 4th. Dr. Ferrer also made it clear that the order strongly recommends that there is vaccination verification for the indoor part of restaurants.
“This modified health officer order aligns with the continued need to reduce risk of transmission and increase vaccination coverage,” Ferrer declared to the Board of Supervisors. “This is a reasonable path forward that will position us to be better able to break the cycle of surges.”

The health officers in LA County believe that targeted vaccine mandates are a significant part of the strategy for raising vaccine coverage across the county and putting an end to the pandemic.
The new requirements for huge outdoor events will go into effect on October 7th.
This new mandate comes on the heels of the failed recall where Governor Newsom successfully avoided being taken from the office and the citizens of California decided against a conservative candidate.
It was reported by The Daily Wire on Tuesday that by 9 pm PT, CBS News, NBC News, and The Associated Press had projected that an overwhelming majority of California’s citizens believed that Newsom was their best option. After 60% of the ballots had been counted, Newsom led with almost 70% of the votes while just over 30% wanted him out. The certified count of votes will not be available until October 22nd.
One of the main reasons for the recall vote was due to the way Governor Newsom handled the COVID-19 pandemic. Many did not like the strict lockdown measures he and other officials imposed on the people of California.
The Governor’s lockdowns negatively impacted small businesses and hurt the economy. After imposing such strict orders, Newsom was caught eating at an expensive restaurant and disregarding the social distancing policies he had put in place.
The Governor not only avoided being taken from office in the recall, he also raised tens of millions of dollars to help him. The Los Angeles Times reported that Newsom’s supporters raised at least $82 million. He was also able to secure the help of huge Democratic names in an effort to win the election.
It was reported in the Daily Wire that, “VP Harris campaigned with Newsom last week, and President Joe Biden appeared at a rally on Monday to stump for him. In addition, U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren, a Democrat from Massachusetts, and former President Barack Obama appeared in television spots paid for by Newsom’s anti-recall committee.”
