A dead man’s body was hung from a crane in the middle of the street on Saturday. Taliban terrorists committed this act in one of Afghanistan’s largest cities. Many are experiencing increasing fear that the new regime’s brutality is gaining power less than a month after they took control of the country.
In Herat, Wazir Ahmad Seddiqi who runs a pharmacy in the Herat square relayed to the Associated Press that the Taliban brought four bodies to the main square. The terrorist’s displayed one body there and moved the other three to various parts of the city to be viewed by the public.
Taliban leaders declared that the men they killed were involved in a kidnapping and they were killed in the midst of a gunfight.
Ziaulhaq Jalali, a local district police chief in Herat, said the four men were shot dead by Taliban security forces during a rescue mission to thwart the kidnapping. He added that a Taliban fighter and civilian has been wounded.

Reuters reported that the video of the bloodstained corpse which was swinging on a crane was widely shared on social media. The footage showed a note pinned on the man’s chest which said, “This is punishment for kidnapping.”
The public display came a few hours after the Taliban’s top police officer, Mullah Nooruddin Turabi, announced the country would be returning to Quran-era religious punishments like executions and limb amputations. During the Taliban’s previous regime, they famously held public executions in the country’s stadiums.
Though they have promised the people of Afghanistan a kinder, gentler Taliban, the current leaders — many of whom like Turabi are veterans of their previous rule — have shown few signs of kindness or gentleness.
An Associated Press video showed crowds gathering around the crane and peering up at the body as some men chanted.
“The aim of this action is to alert all criminals that they are not safe,” a Taliban commander who did not identify himself told the AP in an on-camera interview conducted in the square.
The Republican representative from Florida, Michael Waltz, reacted to the terrorism by posting a photo of one of the hangings and writing, “America needs to see and understand what brutal terrorist thugs we are dealing with…and that their violence will follow us home.”
This horrific display by the Taliban happened after Democrat President Joe Biden’s administration repeatedly praised the new regime in Afghanistan in recent weeks. He called them
“businesslike and professional.”
This wasn’t the only praise from the White House for the Taliban. It also came during the week of the 20th anniversary of September 11, 2001. America was remembering the Islamic terrorist attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people in the United States. We were grieving the attacks which were carried out by al-Qaeda terrorists, who were being protected in Afghanistan by the Taliban.
The White House claimed, “The Taliban have been cooperative in facilitating the departure of American citizens and lawful permanent residents on charter flights from HKIA.” This statement came after some American citizens were finally evacuated out of Afghanistan after being left there. Biden’s administration also noted, “They have shown flexibility, and they have been businesslike and professional in our dealings with them in this effort. This is a positive first step.”
The president’s botched withdrawal from Afghanistan resulted in 13 U.S. service members being murdered by ISIS terrorists at the airport in Kabul. The administration also left behind many Americans, thousands of green card holders, and tens of thousands of SIV applicants.
After the withdrawal, the administration made a drone strike that killed an innocent family, including seven young children. They are also accused of lying about aspects of the strike.
