Karine Jean-Pierre’s job is to stand in front of the press and answer questions regarding the president and those connected to him. Except for this week, there seems to be at least one question that she just won’t answer.
Jean-Pierre was asked this week about a controversial voicemail that President Joe Biden left his son Hunter. But the answer was clearly a no answer. The administration refuses to address the situation.
There is new information that has come from Hunter Biden’s laptop that reveals the president called his son to talk about a New York Times article that focused on Hunter’s business associations with a Chinese oil tycoon.
President Biden leaves a voicemail that said, “Hey pal, it’s Dad, it’s 8:15 on Wednesday night. If you get a chance, just give me a call. Nothing urgent. I just wanted to talk to you. I thought the article released online, it’s going to be printed tomorrow in the Times, was good. I think you’re clear. And anyway if you get a chance, give me a call, I love you.”

The message on the voicemail seems innocent enough, but the issue is that it contradicts what President Biden has continually claimed. He has said over and over again that he was completely unaware and uninvolved with Hunter’s overseas business dealings. The same dealings that are under a federal investigation.
At the recent White House press conference, Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy asked Jean-Pierre about the voicemail and he noted the contradiction with the president.
“Why is there a voicemail of the President talking to his son about his overseas business dealings if the president has said he’s never spoken to his son about his overseas business dealings?” Doocy asked.
Jean Pierre tried to sidestep the question by simply saying that whatever the president has said is what stands.
“Well, first, I’ll say that what the president said stands. So if he — if that’s what the president said, that is what stands, she said.
“He’s leaving a voicemail about a New York Times article concerning Hunter Biden’s business dealings. And it says, ‘I think you’re clear.’ How is that not him talking to his son about his overseas business dealings?” Doocy responded
Jean-Pierre had enough, “We’re not — from this podium, I am not going to talk about alleged materials from the laptop,” the press secretary said. “I will — I am not —“
Doocy kept going and asked if she was disputing that it was the president’s voice. She once again shut him down and said that she was not going to talk about alleged information on a laptop.
“It’s not happening,” Jean-Pierre said.
Doocy pressed one more time, but she said he would have to talk to Hunter Biden’s representatives.
Later, Jean-Pierre was questioned by RealClearPolitics reporter Philip Wegmann. He wanted to know how the White House could refuse to even address questions about the first son’s business interactions and he reminded Jean-Pierre that the president continually says that he will “level” with the public.
She once again dismissed the question, “So I hear your question, but what I can tell you from here, standing at this podium is that I cannot comment on any materials from the laptop and I would refer you to the representatives of Hunter Biden.”
Hunter Biden’s overseas dealings gained significant attention this year when the Washington Post and the New York Times verified documents from his laptop that were first reported by The Post in October of 2020.
Just don’t ask the White House press secretary about it.
