“You’re Fired!” It’s a phrase made famous by none other than Donald Trump. It solidified him as a businessman who wasn’t afraid of hurting people’s feelings if that is what would be best for the company and its bottom dollar. It’s also the approach he basically won the presidency on in 2016.
We all remember how hard he campaigned to “drain the swamp” and rid Washington, DC, of the vermin that has long infested its hallowed halls. Most of us believed, as I do, that if anyone could fire whole swaths of the corrupt inside the deep state, it would be Donald Trump.
And he certainly tried, didn’t he?
Take his decision to move jobs in the Interior Department and Department of Agriculture out of their DC offices and into the states they were supposed to be working for. He also cut regulatory costs down by some 90 percent, slashing the power of bureaucracy and saving the US treasury about $160 billion.

But the biggest of his plans he never got to put into play, thanks to COVID, and shortly after its arrival, an election that named another as POTUS.
And apparently, it’s a plan he hasn’t forgotten about and fully intends to make a reality, should he decide to run and win another term in the White House.
It’s referred to as “Schedule F.” If implemented, it would essentially give the president the power to cut tens of thousands of biased, duplicate, or otherwise useless employees and departments from the federal government.
Essentially, it would create a whole new class of federal employees, effectively changing their status and taking an ax to the job protections they currently enjoy.
You see, a wide majority of federal employees are union members. According to Axios, this means that while the president might be their “boss,” they are protected from things like being fired or what they might call unfair treatment.
Trump’s plan includes cutting their status as union members, essentially. This would give himself and any future president the power to fire them without repercussions. Trump even went so far as to announce an executive order on the plan in October of 2020, but as you know, COVID and then the election quickly took over. And, of course, once Biden was sworn in, that EO was nullified.
But as 2024 and the possibility of a GOP takeover looms ahead, some, including Trump, have proposed that the plan be put back into motion.
According to current campaign movements, groups like Conservative Partnership Institute, the Center for Renewing America, and America First Legal, who all support Trump, are taking stock of current federal employee and department positions and creating a list of those that aren’t really needed or are far too biased do to their jobs correctly.
This includes positions in the EPA, IRS, FBI, Pentagon, Judiciary, DOJ, and intelligence sector, just to name a few. And yes, it even includes positions in the military, which most Republicans tend to see as GOP-friendly. However, a swarm of ‘woke generals’ have begun infiltrating the ranks, causing those like Trump to include them in his attempt to “fire the swamp,” as he recently referred to it.
This weekend, while speaking at Turning Point USA’s Student Action Summit, he said, “to drain the swamp, we need to fire the swamp. With schedule F, I took executive action to make it possible to fire federal employees who are bypassing our democracy to advance Wokeism and corruption. We now need Congress to institute historic reforms to permanently empower the president to root out the deep state and ensure that any bureaucrat who is corrupt, incompetent, or unnecessary can be told, ‘You’re fired!”
I don’t know about you, but those words have never sounded so good, whether you believe Trump should be the one to say them or not. The fact of the matter is that our government does need a thorough cleaning out. And if Trump can give that to us, I’m that much more willing to let him try.
